Myalgias

Muscle Aches and Cramps

Muscle pain (myalgias) is a common phenomenon and usually results from excessive exercise or overuse of muscles. Occasional muscle aches and cramps often accompany all the physical activities of life and are rarely a cause for concern. The pain can range from mild to severe and usually disappears after a few days of rest. Prolonged or recurrent pain, especially when accompanied by fever, decreased muscle strength, or swelling of the joints may conceal a more serious condition and possibly injury. Chronic muscle pain without an obvious physical cause may be due to the presence of toxic substances or nutrient deficiencies.
