Screening for antibodies against the SOX1 antigen is used in suspected paraneoplastic syndrome and in ambiguous forms of neuropathy.
Antibodies against the SOX1 antigen are unusual but may occur in paraneoplastic neuropathy, Lambert-Eaton syndrome, and unclear forms of neuropathy and ataxia. SOX1 antibodies often coexist with antibodies against VGCC, Hu, CV2 / CRMP5 antigens, and amphiphysin. The most common form of cancer associated with the SOX1 antigen is small cell lung cancer, but other forms of lung cancer have also been reported.
